IBSS at SOCITM 2012: 27-29 November 2012, Birmingham

Capita’s lightening talk session and exhibition presence at SOCITM’s Annual Conference is set to be very interesting this year. We’ll be at stand S1 in the exhibition hall and would like to invite you to pay us a visit, join our open conversation and help illustrate the ‘art of the possible’.

Picture this.

Today we are all confronted with the reality of having to adapt to an era of significant change.  Being continuously faced with this can disrupt effective decision making.  Sometimes, to overcome this challenge, we need to bring about the ‘art of the possible’ and open ourselves up to think differently and think ahead.

Mindful of the  intense focus on coping with short–term pressures we have already done some work to raise our eyes to a further horizon and seek out solutions and issues that will face us in the second half of “the austerity decade”: What do we need to do now to prepare us for that future?  What will we be thanked for in ten years time?

If you could start with a blank canvas, what would you really like to do?

The full impact of ICT pivotal to sustain and reform local services is yet to be realised.  At Socitm 2012, we are taking the opportunity to speak to Local Government practitioners to share and explore what has already worked, what has not and seek out  growing and changing needs.  With skilled artists on hand, we will then, literally, illustrate the ‘art of the possible’.

To make sure we make the most of our time spent in Birmingham, we want to share the results of this unscripted assembly of ideas and perspective open up dialogue beyond the conference and take ideas forward within local government.

You can keep up to date by visiting our Local Government Matters blog and by pre-registering your interest to receive a copy of the post-event report.
